HCC was founded in 2013 in recognition of the intense local demand for both on-label & off-label Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. We use the most modern & safest Hyperbaric Chambers - including multi-place & mono-place chambers. One of our unique applications of Hyperbaric Oxygen is to facilitate the resolution of certain factors implicated in non-response to treatment of injury to the nervous system.

Dr. Petronilo Costa
Attending Physician

Dr. Petronilo Costa attended medical school in Brazil at the Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR). He was trained there in Pediatrics and emigrated to the United States for his post-graduate education. He first completed a residency in general psychiatry at the University of Illinois then later a fellowship in Child and adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Chicago within the Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center. His career began in academia with a strong interest in community outreach.

Dr. Costa later left academia, and has been focused on private practice, as a consultant and also as a treating physician, for over 20 years. He works with a variety of patients and uses his psychodynamic training to guide his very modern science-based approach to diagnosing and treating neuropsychiatric illness. He has been a team leader throughout his career and is internationally recognized as an authority in the conditions that ail youth.

Dr. Michael Easton
Attending Physician

Dr. Easton started the first four years of his medical training living in Italy and studying at the University of Bologna Medical School, he then returned home to complete his degree at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine (Chicago Medical School) doing most of his training at Cook County Hospital. Dr. Easton did his psychiatric residency at Illinois State Psychiatric Institute (ISPSI) the hub for psychiatric research in the Chicago-land area.  He stayed on at ISPI and in conjunction with the University of Illinois did a fellowship in bio-psychiatric research, psychopharmacology and electro convulsive therapy (ECT) under the tutelage of nationally and internationally renowned psychiatric clinicians and researchers. He continued there for another three years as a research psychiatrist, developing and implementing studies of pharmacological agents in the treatment of mood and psychotic disorders as well as doing research on the administration of ECT.  During this he became interested in sleep medicine and circadian rhythm disorders leading to his involvement in some of the initial research on bright light therapy for Seasonal Affective Disorders.   He was also the director of the Tourette’s disorder clinic at ISPI.

Dr. Easton has over 15 years of psychiatric research in areas related to the use of medications and ECT in the treatment of addictive disorders as well as anticraving medication in addiction.  He has numerous research publications and book chapters in his areas of expertise as well as having lectured nationally on topics related to the pharmacotherapeutic agents and the management of mood disorders, psychosis and addiction.
